Frequently Asked Questions
What does a vehicle service cost?
How often should I service my vehicle?
How long will a service take?
Can I get a ride home?
What type of payments do you accept?
Can I provide my own parts for service or repair?
Will any of my illuminated indicators, noises, vibrations, or other concerns automatically be checked during a service?
- Baseline costs for a vehicle service includes one hour of shop labor time, the cost of parts and fluids required for your vehicle, hazardous waste disposal fees (engine oil and filter disposal), shop supply fees, and Hawaii state taxes. Type of engine oil and labor required for your vehicle may greatly vary in cost.
- Some vehicles do not require a wheel and tire rotation either due to staggered wheel sizes, tire tread wear, or other affecting factors. This may lower the required labor time to perform your service.
- Some vehicles equipped with one or more of the following may result in additional labor time to perform your service:
- After-market underhood/steering/drive line/suspension modifications
- Factory or after-market wheels and wheel locks (please have wheel lock key available upon vehicle drop-off)
- Severely corroded vehicle hardware (undercar shields or wheel hubs)
- Modern, European-style engine oil level inspection systems
How often should I service my vehicle?
- Every manufacturer utilizes different schedule maintenance intervals, even differing between models of their own make. Generally if using full-synthetic oil, we recommend a scheduled service interval of either every six months or 5,000 miles (whichever limit is reached first) due to our extremely humid climate and varying elevation/temperature changes, If using conventional oil, we recommend a scheduled service interval of either three months or 3,000 miles (whichever limit is reached first).
How long will a service take?
- A service can take anywhere from two hours to half a day. Generally we request that customers drop off their vehicles the day prior to the appointment or at 8:00 the morning of and leave it for at least half a day. This ensures that our technicians have sufficient time to thoroughly assess your vehicle as required.
Can I get a ride home?
- Since the COVID-19 pandemic, we are no longer able to offer rides or allow customers to wait on our premises.
What type of payments do you accept?
- We gladly accept cash, checks, VISA and MasterCard at this time. Payments must be made in full at the time of pick-up unless previously discussed with Cheryl or Tyson.
Can I provide my own parts for service or repair?
- Absolutely! Technicians at Horizon Automotive, LLC may use your parts upon request, however, we are unable to warranty any failure or damage caused by customer supplied parts.
Will any of my illuminated indicators, noises, vibrations, or other concerns automatically be checked during a service?
- The technician performing the service will do their best to note any vehicle abnormalities they may come across during your service. However, it is always helpful to know of any customer concerns upfront, as outside concerns are secondary to the regular service the vehicle was schedule for. If you have any other concerns for your vehicle and would like the addressed or diagnosed at the time of service, please let us know when scheduling an appointment.
